The Texas Tan is a large, chunky Aphonopelma from southern Texas and northern Mexico, with lovely tan and brown colouring and a really classic tarantula appearance. They can reach around 13–15cm as adults, although some females can get even larger, and they’re a very slow-growing species.
They’re terrestrial/fossorial and generally calm and easy-going, although they can be a little skittish when disturbed. Keep them around 22–27°C with humidity around 50–60%.
