The Pumpkin Patch is a small but striking tarantula from Colombia, named for the bright orange markings across its dark abdomen. They stay nice and compact at around 7-8cm as adults, but make up for their size with plenty of character.
They’re terrestrial, active and fantastic little webbers, so give them a decent depth of substrate, a hide and plenty of anchor points for webbing. Keep them around 22–26°C with humidity around 70–80%, providing a slightly moist area of substrate, a water dish and good ventilation.
They’re generally quite defensive and can be fast and skittish, so they’re best left to do their own thing rather than disturbed unnecessarily.
A brilliant little species if you want something colourful, active and full of personality without taking up loads of space.
