The famous Orange Baboon Tarantula, or OBT, is a striking African Old World species with vivid orange colouring and a seriously impressive attitude. The RCF (Red Colour Form) is particularly vibrant, with a deep orange-red appearance as it matures. Adults can reach around 12–15cm in leg span and, as you might expect from an OBT, they’re fast, defensive and absolutely not interested in making friends. 😂
Keep at around 22–26°C with humidity around 60–70%, providing good ventilation, plenty of substrate and somewhere secure to retreat.
A fantastic species for experienced keepers who appreciate a tarantula with plenty of personality — and absolutely no patience for nonsense.
